The Lala Lajpatrai Memorial Trust was formed in 1959, marking the eve of the Birth Centenary of the Late Shri Lala Lajpatrai, to work for the objectives which were so dear and near to Lalaji’s heart. Though Lalaji was interested in almost all fields of activities that contribute to the enrichment of national and social life, the cause of education was always uppermost on his mind. It was therefore desired by our late Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri that the most fitting way of commemorating the great patriot was to start an institution of higher education based on his ideology. About Lala Lajpatrai College Mumbai

The Lala Lajpatrai Memorial Trust was registered on 13th July 1959. The trustees got a land on lease from the government. A seven story building was erected on the land. On 10th February 1972 the trust leased the college building to Lala Lajpatrai Institute for education purpose. The aim of the Trust was to establish, conduct, control and manage school, institutes, academics and colleges for promoting education in all departments by ways and modes best suited to the needs of the people. Its aim was to promote cultural, literal and social welfare of the people. The Institute established a library and built up a large collection of books, periodicals and journals. The main aim of the Institute was to take an active interest in the social and moral welfare of the community.

The actual establishment of the College was made possible due to the allotment of a valuable piece of land, admeasuring about 26,000 Sq.ft, on a fairly nominal rent, by the Government of Maharashtra. The good offices and the efforts of Late Shri Yashwantrao Chavan were primarily instrumental in getting the piece of land. The construction of the present huge magnificent building was made possible by the contribution made by the generous philanthropists and donation made by the trustees.

With the formation of the Lala Lajpatrai Institute, the next logical step was the establishment of the Lala Lajpatrai College of Commerce and Economics. The College which is affiliated to the University of Mumbai is situated at Haji Ali, on the road named after Shri Lala Lajpatrai.Glimpses of BMS Fest “Tsunami”

Bachelor of Management Studies (B. M. S)

The program is run by the College since the year 1999. Currently, there are four divisions under it with an intake capacity of 240 students.

B.M.S or Bachelor in Management Studies replaced three courses i.e. Bachelor of Business Studies, Bachelor of Business Economics, and Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis.

B.M.S, like the three courses it replaced, is a course that will attract thousands of students who wish to go beyond theoretical education. It is a three-year degree course, with six semesters, managed by a full-time and visiting faculty drawn from the Industrial and Service sectors. The College is committed to providing in-depth training using the latest equipment in computers, practical experience, industrial visits, and summer placements, wherever possible

Semester System and its System of Continuous Internal Evaluation of its students will help the College to upgrade the quality of its education and create middle cadre management personnel.

To provide comprehensive management training to students by way of interactions, projects, presentations, industrial visits, practical training, job orientations, and placements.

LLRCCE, Mumbai Application Process 2024

Any candidates seeking admissions into LLRCCE will obtain application form from the office during working hours after official notification. Candidates may also fill-up Mumbai University application form and submit the same by following the given steps:

Log on to the Online Admission Portal of Mumbai University and click on the link for “Pre- Admission Online Registration”.
Proceed to “Apply Online”, enter mandatory details and complete the form to “Register”.
A verification code and a link will be sent on the mobile number provided by the applicant.
Log in with the verification code, fill in given particulars of the online application form and attach a recent passport size coloured photograph as per the requirement.
During the process candidates must pay the registration fee of Rs. 150/- through a DD drawn in favour of “The Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai” payable at Mumbai.
Submit the print of application form along with necessary documents in the college.
