Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies

The SCMC core faculty possesses years of industry, academic and research experience, while our visiting and guest faculty are active media professionals. Together, they help the students gain an understanding of real-world scenarios and of the changing demands of the industry, and to create networks within the media community. Our intake process entails a rigorous screening of students for the Two programmes through a multistage procedure that includes an Entrance Test(SET), Written Ability Test(WAT)/Studio or Portfolio Test and Personal Interviews(PI).

BBA (Media Management) Honours / Honours With Research

SIU announces the four-year degree BBA(Media Management) programme with multiple entry and exit options as envisioned in the NEP 2020. The highlights of the new programme offerings are as under

The Programme framework allows exciting options to pursue single major, double majors, minors, opportunity to pursue multidisciplinary, Ability and Skill enhancement courses.
Offers a good blend of immersive learning, research and community engagement
Includes opportunities for semester exchange programmes with foreign universities
Offers the following exit options

A Certificate at the end of the first year of the programme with 44 credits
A Diploma at the end of the first two years of the programme with 84 credits
A UG Degree at the end of 3 years of the programme with 124 credits
A UG Degree with Honours / Research at the end of the 4 years of the programme with 164 credits

Offers option of Re-entry within 3 years of exit and 7 years as the maximum permissible period to complete the programme.

Eligibility

BBA (Media Management) Honours / Honours With Research

Passed Standard XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any recognised Board with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% Marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes).
Students who wish to opt for Honours with Research must earn a 7.5 CGPA and above at the end of Semester-6.
Eligibility Criteria for the multiple entries would be as per University’s Lateral Entry Rules for FYUG Programmes.

Our academic infrastructure includes:

Seminar Halls:

These host regular lectures, demonstration classes and examinations and are provided with overhead LCD projectors and public-address systems.

Screening Rooms:

For lectures and AV screenings, these are acoustically sealed, split air-conditioned mini-auditoriums with wall-to-wall carpeting and provided with overhead LCD projection systems and Dolby / DTS 7.1 surround sound systems.

Shooting Floor:

The shooting floor along with a Production Control Room (PCR) is acoustically sealed and air- conditioned. It is equipped with lighting equipment including Canara overhead moveable lighting grid with cool flood lights, spotlights, Kino lights, shadow casters & light meters. It has multiple digital cameras (Panasonic DVX102, Panasonic AG-AF100 & Canon 5D Mark III with lenses). It also has a Teleprompter for news reading, apart from a multi-channel digital audio mixer.

Post-Production Suite & Laboratory:

These consists of four air-conditioned cubicles as well as a post-production laboratory equipped with non- linear edit systems to provide professional level post-production facilities. There are four MacPro machines with FCP and 10 iMac machines with Adobe Premier CS5. Additional software includes Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop & FCE.

Sound Recording Suite & Laboratory:

The air-conditioned and acoustically balanced practical-demo suite has an industry-standard multi-track sound recording and reproduction set-up. It is equipped with audio mixing consoles like Yamaha MG166cx, Xenyx 802, Yamaha MG82cx & Eurorack UB880. The suite also has a pair of powered audio monitors – Yamaha HS80M and two pairs of Yamaha MSP3. Nuendo 5 is the preferred audio software used to record and reproduce recorded audio files here.
